Mexicans in the Cairngorms

23rd December 2015

Today Christian and Georgina were out with us for a winter skills day. We kept low to avoid the worst of the strong winds, but it was still feeling pretty wild with heavy snow showers and squally gusts. Well done to team Mexico for surviving a wild day in the 'Gorms.

Sunshine then Snow

14th December 2015

After another great day of sunshine on the hills yesterday, Aviemore awoke to eight inches of fresh snow this morning!

Teams yesterday were in and around Coire an Lochan and Castle Hill doing winter skills and in Scneachda mountaineering. Today the skills team staying a bit more local and used Carn Dearg Mor for practicing navigation as it has a really good complex ridge. The mountaineers were practicing their snow anchors in Coire an Lochan.

The whole of the Strath looked great today with its winter coat on and it's remarkable how quickly conditions can change from being lean to having almost too much of the stuff!

Winter Skills & Mountaineering

7th December 2015

Alex and Steve kicked off our winter season for us this weekend with a day of skills in the corries and a day of climbing at Creag an Cha-no. Despite the turbo thaw and mixed weather, they found surprisingly good conditions and fun was had by all.

This week is pretty wild with very strong winds and fluctuating temperatures. Fortunatelty things are to quieten down towards the weekend and it's getting colder. Just in time for our climbing and various skills courses that will be running!
