Winter in the Cairngorms

22 Nov 2015

It's great to see everything looking wintry Aviemore and the Cairngorms. Folks have been getting routes climbed in the Northern Corries and plenty others have been out enjoying the snow and sunshine.

Conditons for the final day of a WEMSI course (wilderness first aid) were perfect for our multiple casualty scenario. Really great to be back out in the snow.

Our courses are continuing to fill up. We've put a second winter skills course on in December due to popularity, which still has a couple places left.Cairngorm Adventure Guides Winter Conditions Scotland Nov 2015

Winter conditions report....

13th Nov 2015

We woke to sleet falling in Aviemore this morning and snow down to a few hundred meters. The mountains are looking more wintry and things have definitely turned a bit cooler! Bring it on!

A wintry outlook...

12th Nov 2015

Winter is beginning to take hold of the mountains. Today we've had snow down to 900m's, with a wintry looking forecast for the next couple of weeks. Here's a photo to wet the appetite.

Winter courses are beginning to fill up well but we still have a couple places left on our early winter skills courses.

Blog catch-up

2nd November 2015

It's been another quite period on the blog despite things been pretty busy. A couple weekends ago we got our first snows of the season which got everyone excitied, since then it's turned remarkably warm again, with today reaching the dizzy highs of 15 degrees!

Recently we've been sport climbing at Moy, had a mountain bike over the Cairngorms and spent a few weekends on the north shore surfing. Here's a few photos of our sea kayaking trip in Torridon, scrambling on Bienn Eighe, rock climbing in the North West and walking around Shieldaig.

The weather will hopefully start turning colder and we'll begin to see winter taking hold of the mountains. Time to look out the cold weather gear and flask!

October 2015

We've been quiet on the blogging front again but that's not to say we've not been busy. It's been another month of film safety work, rock climbing, surfing and hill walking.

Things have turned more autumnal this week, especially after the few weeks of great weather, and gets us thinking ahead to winter!

Please have a read of our October 2015 which hopefully inspires you a bit for some snowy adventures.

August 2015

We've been a bit quiet on the blogging front recently which is mainly due to being busy with work! It's been an interesting and varied month or so with plenty of mountain work, some good mountain biking around the Cairngorms, rock climbing, a canoe trip, family hill walking, guiding a photographer in the North West and a couple of TV productions which Mountain and Water Safety Specialists provided mountain safety on.

It's not clear what happened to summer this year in Aviemore and Scotland. There have been a few good days and even a couple of river swims, but it feels as it might be over as the nights are definitely drawing in and September is just around the corner. Here's hoping for an Indian Summer!

A few photos to show what we've been up to:
