Good conditions for walking, skiing and climbing #winterskills #skitouring #winterclimbing

8th February 2019

Conditions improved dramatically during the last week of January (fortunately). Almost overnight temperatures dropped and snow began accummulating.

We've been busy with lots of winter skills, ski touring and winter mountaineering/ climbing courses. As much as conditions have improved there have still be a few challenging days here and there, so well done to our hardy clients for sticking with it.

Tomorrow is the start of the February half-term holidays and this year looks to be busier than ever with 75 folks out on 25 different course over 9 days! This will be a test of organisation!

There's plenty of winter left. Please get in touch if you'd like some winter training or guiding.

Winter courses

Fun, varied and useful Our guide Johnny took us out on a cold and wintry but not very snowy day for winter skills training. We found patches of snow to practice self-belay and ice axe arrest, and learnt winter navigation skills, with flora and fauna pointed out along the way. The day was very much tailored to our group's needs and abilities so everyone was challenged but not pushed too far. Really fun, educational and useful for future winter walks.
