When doing any adventure sport it is important to have appropriate kit for your own enjoyment, safety and for the safety of the others around you. During winter, conditions are even less forgiving and having the correct equipment is of paramount importance. We have created kit lists as detailed below, please get in touch if you have any questions or need to hire anything.

Summer Mountaineering

  • Waterproof jacket & trousers
  • Waterproof hill walking boots
  • Windstopper/ fleece
  • Hat & gloves

  • 30ltr rucksack with liner

  • Rock shoes (rock climbing courses)

Winter Walking & Mountaineering

  • Power stretch/ windstopper/ warm trousers
  • Thermal base layer
  • Windstopper/ soft shell/ fleece mid layer jacket
  • Spare warm jacket
  • Hat (+ spare)
  • Waterproof gloves (+ spare)
  • Ski goggles
  • 30 - 40ltr rucksack with waterproof liner
  • Thermal flask
  • Compass & map case (for those attending navigation course)
  • Mountaineering axe (available for hire)
  • Mountaineering crampons (available for hire)
  • Climbing helmet (available for hire)
  • Climbing harness (for mountaineering courses only)
  • Map OS sheet 36 1:50,000, map case & compass (if you have them)
  • Snow shovel (not essential, but if you have one bring it along)

Winter Climbing

All as above, but with;

  • 2no technical ice axes (available for hire)
  • Technical crampons (available for hire)
  • Climbing harness with 8ft/ 120cm Sling & 2no HMS karabiners (available for hire)

Ski Touring

Please get in touch with them in advance with your shoe size, weight and height, and let them know you are one one of our courses.

  • Transceiver, probe & shovel (If you have these please bring them. They are not a safety requirement, they're for training and we have sets available for use).

We can provide canoes, paddles, buoyancy aids and dry bags, but you'll need:
