Mixed early January conditions #winter #mountaineering #climbing #cairngorms

9th January 2017

The weather forecast is now looking wintry, which is great to see and a bit of a relief! We've had really wintry spells followed by warm weather which has stripped almost all the snow away. Nonethelss we've still managed to use good locations to deliver lots of great training. Here are some photos from winter skills, a winter walking week duo, two climbing teams, a winter mountaineering trio and some navigation training teams who've been out with us so far.

As always, these courses are only a success becuase of the skill and experience of the excellent mountain folks who work for Cairngorm Adventure Guides!

Winter courses

Absolutely loved the course! Our instructor Annie was very good and knowledgeable about all aspects of touring, she taught us all about the kit, what to pack in bag, avalanche training, planning of tour and lots more. The first day we toured to top of Cairngorm summit with some Ice on the way and managed to test ski crampons. The second day was probably one of the best experiences On skis when we reached the summit of Gael Charn and the view was unreal and the ski down was brilliant. Amazing week and recommend the course.
