February Half Term in the Cairngorms #winterskills #skitouring #winterclimbing #wintermountaineering

12th February 2018

So far this has been an excellent winter season. Whilst there have been a few big stroms bringing in some unsettled weather, for the most part it's been cold in the mountains, there's been lots of snow and it has even been pretty sunny!

February half-term is always a busy time for us and this year is no different. We've have lots of winter skills, ski tiouring and mountaineering courses running and things continue to be busy for the next while.

The ski touring has been excellent, not just here in the Cairngorms but across the country with lots and lots of people out on their skis. The mountaineering and climbing has also been excellent with lots of routes getting in climbed in the sunshine.

We've been getting some great feedback on TripAdvisor and it's great to see so many familiar faces joining us for more winter training.

Hopefully you've been out enjoying the snow.

Winter courses

We went on the 2 day Intro to Winter Mountaineering course and couldn't praise it highly enough! Dave was an incredible instructor - friendly, patient and super familiar with all the mountain terrain near Aviemore. We recapped our basic winter skills before progressing onto ropework, belaying and steeper routes. We became more independent the second day, leading the routes with Dave's guidance. Dave was more than happy to tailor the course to our level and needs, allowing us to push ourselves whilst always feeling safe. There are loads of outdoor guides and courses in the Cairngorms, but having now done two courses with Cairngorm Adventure Guides we would recommend them to everyone!
