Winter Skills

3rd December 2017

Yesterday was the start of our 2017/18 work season. Ed and Nick wanted some winter skills training ahead of a mini expedition they are doing.

There has been lots of snow recently and very cold temperatures. Although it warmed up over the weekend, conditions have survived well and will only improve later this week when it snows again.

We also made it out for a very short ski tour. Great to have the skis on again.

A good start to the season

Five day Winter Skills course, fantastic experience! A group of five inexperienced mountain men had a great time learning new skills, including ice axe arrest, walking on flat ice, navigating steep snow slopes, avalanche awareness. We had two guides through the week, both highly professional and responsive to our goals and desires. Liam was so helpful in sorting out gear for members of the group lacking gaiters or a jacket, for example, and also organising other things, like lifts back to the youth hostel and prompt pick up off the mountain. I can't recommend CAG highly enough!
