Our canoe Development Weekend helps to improve your canoe skills, river running and journeying knowledge.
These courses are run with small ratios and are suitable for solo or tandem paddlers who are looking to become safer and more independent canoeists.
We use rivers and lochs in the Cairngorms National Park, and the course is based out of Aviemore.
A typical itinerary would be:
Day 1: we head to one of our local lochs and look at how we set up our boats, develop personal canoe skills (this is a great opportunity to get coached and improve your paddling), look at different canoe and personal equipment, rescue techniques, top tips for multiple day canoe journeys and essential open water safety awareness.
Day 2: on our second we day we head to one of our local rivers and practice our skills on moving water. We look at moving water techniques, river grading, river running skills, river hazard awareness, lining and rescue techniques.
By the end of the weekend your canoe handling skills and river running/ journeying knowledge will have massively improved and you'll be left with the confidence to enjoy your canoeing even more.
If you would have any questions about these weekends please feel free to get in touch.
